The History Project
About The History Project
The History Project is an independent, non-profit entity organized for the sole purpose of providing a platform on which writers can present their own stories about family, business, community, or other topics. Users make a periodic donation to THP to offset the cost of the Internet and publishing services that we purchase from third parties. Our policy is to distribute net income above publishing costs to scholarships.

Our address is http://www.thehistoryproject.org. Please use the Contacts form to initiate a conversation. Our marble-columned library - sometimes described as a room full of computers - is located in the Puget Sound country of Washington State.

Disclaimer

THP does not monitor or approve the content of individual sites on the system. It acts solely as a common carrier of data. THP does not in any way exercise prior restraint and is not responsible for the words -- whether identified as fact or opinion -- or pictures that may be posted to the system.

Users please note: You are responsible for what you say and write. If you choose to commit plagiarism, libel or slander, we will not protect you.

Privacy

THP does not sell or rent its database. Information collected from users is used only for maintenance of the system and dissemination to users of reports on the status of and changes to the system. We reserve the right to communicate with users for any purpose, and by using the system you agree that such communication does not and shall not constitute "unsolicited commercial email" in any way.

To maintain users' confidentiality, we do not automatically publish email addresses. A "double-blind" email form is available on each site. Users are free to publish their addresses within their sites. Other contact information such as postal and telephone information are available in directory listings.

In the case of questions regarding the ownership or authorship of materials posted on users' sites, we may in our sole discretion disclose the registered identity of the owner or author of such material, along with that person's postal address as registered with us. Requests will be considered by our management on a case by case basis, and bulk requests will be denied. We have no means of verifying users' identity and disclaim responsibility for false self-identification by users.
