Technical Support
Extensive on-line help makes it easy to use the systems that support The History Project. Users are encouraged to find answers to their questions by clicking the Help link on every page of the Editing Suite.
Individuals
Individuals who are part of a local history project receive instruction and help from the user liaison for their group. We regret that we cannot answer questions from individual editors who are part of a group program.
Individuals who pay for their own sites directly are eligible for email help. A special technical support address is provided upon registration. Groups
In the standard THP program, local groups such as schools and historical societies provide sites to their members and provide technical support to them.
Basic technical support for each group's user liaison on technical and operational questions is provided by electronic mail using a special email address that is provided to the group upon registration. Telephone support is also available for groups. Issues
Technical support is generally limited to technical issues and does not include creative services.
Although the systems are regularly archived, users are encouraged to retain local copies of original text and graphics saved in the systems. No warranty is offered or implied regarding loss of data, since it is impossible to monitor all possible actions of all possible editors. Extras
An upgraded technical support program is available that includes telephone support by appointment with a live operator, who will examine your problem and help in real time. The program requires a basic monthly fee, and an hourly rate is charged after a monthly service allotment. Ask your representative for more information.
Training
A comprehensive training program is available to individuals or groups wishing to manage multiple projects. The training program lasts from one to three days and is conducted at an academic location in the Puget Sound region. Participants pay a fee comparable to other technical training programs and are responsible for their own travel and lodging.
